Ultrafast electron dynamics in gas phase acene clusters

Acenes are archetypical organic semiconductors, which can be used as model systems to study ultrafast electronic excitation and relaxation processes. Size-selected and temperature-controlled acene cluster anions will be characterized by photoelectron and photofragmentation spectroscopy as a function of photon energy. This will clarify the degree of excitonic coupling between the molecules as well as provide detailed information about the electron dynamics leading to photoemission. These spectroscopic measurements will be completed by time-resolved femtosecond pump-probe experiments.
